My wife and I live in a retirement community with many that were afraid of a computer but wanted
to learn how to use one.  So in December of 1997 I posted messages in the gathering places to see if there
was any interest. The response was better than expected, so our club was formed. It is now mid 2008 with the
club still going strong. One of the original members is still active and a few that joined our group in the next
year or so are still active.

Weekly topics are restricted to a PC. Only the programs and utilities that
come with an operating system are covered. I choose a topic and create study pages using Paint Shop Pro Photo and a special capture utility to capture the windows to explain the process and provide these for the study session. After a while it became clear that if we had our own web site I could upload the training topics to the site, then issue usernames and passwords so that members could download the topics ahead of time for a pre-study period then go over them in detail at the meetings. Thus our web site was formed, www.smvcc.net
